CIRCUS MAXIMUS ITALIAN TOUR
- November 2008 -
(Extracted from TrueMetal.it)

After having already appreciated them as opening act of maestros Symphony X, Circus Maximus come back in Italy for their first headliner tour. Due unconventional starting time (longly after midnight) we cannot expect a 3 hours exibithion, unfortunately.

Comparing with SW this is a global band performance not only single one (they were mentioning it on SW review  that the focus is on Andreas and Tommy - maxx) even if it's quite impossible not to stay with surprised open mouth in front of TRULLO drum evolutions, a champion in this sector.

Michael Eriksen in a perfect shape, not phisically speaking, is giving us one after the other songs that already became on modern Prog classics. Setlist is luckly focused on ‘Isolate’: even if is hard to say which album is better than the other, there's more high personality on most recent tracks. But even if there're some famous influences even old songs as ‘Glory Of The Empire’ are followed with a great enthusiasm by fans, in delirium by tracklist offering a mix of acrobatic music themes and melodies. Gig good acoustic grant a great guitar sonor impact pushing the metal side of the band, they're the headliners, no doubts. If we can search something on this excellent performance as we made for big bands, perhaps singer Mike Eriksen was perfect on execution but maybe too cold on some poses, remembering his "spiritual father" Geoff Tate. But these are only low details in front of an excellent show performance, succesfully, confirming also on live act their talents, just waiting for their definitive studio masterpiece.

FAN COMMENTS:

Zos_Kia: circus.. I've no words. Tears drop from my eyes...the band of the future, hopefully we'll see them in packed arenas in a decade...

WeepingMoon: nice report...except coldness as geoff tate...I didn't understand you...one of the best metal singer ...eriksen looks more kotipelto than on his style ...in any case also in gorizia (ronchi) an excellent performance.

Van Helsing: excellent 7W and CM, it's a pity for the bad sounds quality, and low audience attendance in bologna.

Skyblade: I saw them in Rome and frankly admitting they were extraordinary! A fantastic, emotionally, concert. I adore them on the album, on the stage I was mostly crying. Maybe they done it only in rome but at the end of "Sane to more" they mentioned "Final Fantasy" games, with final fighting theme. After the concert I said to Glen Mollen and Mats Haugen "You, crazy guys! you played Final Fantasy!", and they replied "which "Final Fantasy" do you prefer?!? ! XD Awesome! Hope they'll come back soon, prog metal need such a bands.

lynch72: I already saw them in Brescia last year and I must admit Michael is sooo nice boy. maybe in bologna he was bit tired but he was superlative..Labrie is nothing..(and I adore dream theater).. isolate gift me same emotions that I had with "images and words"....I hope they'll have at least 1/5 of Dream Theater success, they deserve it! fantastic as Threshold!

poeta73: I was lucky to be there and confirm report words: unforgettable great night! Impressionate by surgical perfection shown by Circus Maximus, absolutely perfect on their executions, as on the albums +++
